Have you ever caught yourself obsessing over the how of everything in your life? I know I have. As I sit here, 26 weeks pregnant with my little girl (now the size of a cauliflower!), I want to share something powerful I’ve learned about letting go and trusting the process.
The “How” Trap
For the longest time, I was stuck in what I call the “how trap” – constantly asking:
- How will this work out?
- How am I going to make this happen?
- How can I control every step?
But recently, I learned something life-changing from Reverend Ike: figuring out the “how” isn’t our job. This simple insight has transformed how I approach my goals and dreams.
Breaking Free from Control
Last week, I challenged myself to stop controlling every step of my journey. Instead of mapping out exactly how everything should happen, I decided to:
- Stay open to unexpected opportunities
- Trust the process
- Focus on what I want rather than how to get there
And you know what? The results were amazing.
The Power of Letting Go
When we try to control everything, we actually block unexpected opportunities from coming our way. Think about it – if you’re so focused on getting a raise next month to afford a new apartment, you might miss other amazing opportunities that could bring even better results.
Shifting from How to Who
One of the biggest changes I’ve made is asking different questions. Instead of “How can I make this happen?” I now ask:
- “Who can I help today?“
- “What impact can I make in someone’s life?”
- “What if things work out even better than I imagined?”
This shift has been incredible for my mindset and results.
The Joy of Unexpected Blessings
When you release the need to control everything, you create space for wonderful surprises. I’ve experienced this firsthand – some of my best opportunities came when I least expected them, simply because I was open to receiving them.
Building Self-Trust
A big part of letting go is learning to trust yourself. It took me four years to rebuild my confidence, but now I understand that:
- True confidence isn’t about not caring what others think
- It’s about knowing your purpose and trusting your journey
- Your energy and authenticity matter more than perfect planning
The Power of Feeling Good
One practice that’s helped me enormously is focusing on feeling good about my dreams instead of stressing about how to achieve them. When you create your vision of success:
- Feel the joy of achievement
- Embrace the excitement
- Trust that the path will reveal itself
Taking Action Without Control
This doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing. Instead:
- Set clear intentions
- Take inspired action
- Stay open to unexpected opportunities
- Trust the process
- Focus on gratitude and positive energy
A Challenge for You
I want to challenge you to try something: For the next seven days, consciously let go of asking “how.” Instead, tell yourself: “I don’t need to know how – my job is to stay open and ready for whatever is coming.”
Notice how much lighter you feel when you release the need to control everything. Pay attention to the unexpected opportunities that show up.
Your Daily Practice
To make this work:
- Start each day with gratitude
- Focus on who you can help
- Trust your inner voice
- Stay positive and open
- Believe in your dreams
The Call to Action
Are you ready to let go of the “how” and trust your journey? Start today by:
- Writing down one area where you’re trying to control everything
- Creating an affirmation that releases that control
- Taking one inspired action without planning every step
Remember, 2025 is your year to shine – but only if you’re willing to let go and trust the process. 💫
