Recently, I helped someone heal from a herniated disc, and it opened my eyes to the deep connection between our thoughts, emotions, and physical pain. While I’m not a doctor or medical professional, I’ve discovered through my work as a spiritual consultant that our spiritual well-being has tremendous power over our physical body. Today, I want to share these insights with you.
Understanding the Root Causes of Back Pain
Back pain, especially in the lower back, often reflects what’s happening in our inner world. Through my experience, I’ve noticed several emotional patterns that contribute to back problems:
Emotional Overwhelm
When we carry too much responsibility or try to control everything in our lives, this burden manifests as physical tension. I used to be that person who took on everything at work – payroll, bookkeeping, you name it. Eventually, it caught up with me, leaving me emotionally and physically drained.
Lack of Support
Many of us (myself included!) struggle with accepting help from others. We try to be superheroes, doing everything ourselves. But this independence can come at a cost to our physical well-being.
Financial Stress
I’ve noticed that lower back pain often connects to our root chakra, which relates to stability and financial security. When we worry constantly about money or feel financially unstable, these concerns can manifest as physical discomfort.
The Power of Our Words and Thoughts
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is how our words shape our reality. They are the blueprint of our mind. I remember when I was working out at the gym, trying to break a personal record. Every time I thought “this is too heavy” or “I might hurt my back,” guess what happened? The pain followed.
Questions for Self-Reflection
To begin healing, ask yourself these important questions:
- What responsibilities am I carrying that aren’t mine?
- Where am I resisting change or flexibility in my life?
- Do I allow myself to ask for and receive help?
- What fears are keeping me stuck?
Steps to Release Emotional Baggage
Practice Forgiveness
Start by forgiving yourself. When you can forgive yourself, forgiving others becomes easier. Remember, holding onto anger only hurts your own body.
New Beliefs for Healing
Replace old patterns with these positive affirmations:
- “I allow myself to be flexible in life and in my thinking”
- “I release the need to control everything”
- “I trust that I am always supported and taken care of”
- “It’s okay for me to lighten my load and ask for help”
Visualization Exercise
Take a moment to try this simple visualization:
- Close your eyes and take deep breaths
- Imagine a white light surrounding your entire body
- Focus on the areas of pain
- Say to yourself: “I release stress, fear, and tension stored in my lower back. I am safe. I am supported.“
- Visualize the pain leaving your body like a dark cloud floating away
Moving Forward
Remember, healing doesn’t happen overnight. There’s no such thing as overnight success. But if you’re spiritual like me, I encourage you to try these techniques. Trust yourself in the process.
You are a divine manifestation, created in God’s image. The more you understand this truth about yourself, the more powerful you become. Nobody can tell you what you can and cannot do.
