As I enter my 20th week of pregnancy, I’ve been reflecting deeply on purpose and mission. Today, I want to share the exact questions that helped me gain clarity about why I’m here and how I can best serve others.

Why Purpose Matters Now

Many of us go through life on autopilot:

  • Working jobs we don’t love
  • Building others’ dreams
  • Forgetting our own gifts
  • Missing our true calling

But here’s the truth: It’s never too late to discover your purpose.

The 6 Questions That Changed Everything

1. What Skills Have You Gained?

First, ask yourself: “What skills or experiences have I gained from my life and career so far?”

Don’t just focus on formal education. Think about:

  • Natural talents
  • Life experiences
  • Career lessons
  • Personal growth

2. What Do People Come to You For?

This question was a game-changer for me. Think about:

  • What advice do people regularly seek from you?
  • What problems do you naturally solve for others?
  • What support do friends and family request?

Your purpose often lies in what comes naturally to you.

3. What Could You Talk About Without Preparation?

Imagine being invited to give a TED talk right now. What topic could you speak about:

  • Without notes
  • With complete confidence
  • From pure passion and experience

This reveals what truly lights you up inside.

4. What Have You Mastered?

Consider:

  • Skills you’ve practiced for years
  • Abilities others see as your “superpower”
  • Knowledge you’ve deeply developed
  • Expertise you take for granted

5. What Transformations Have You Experienced?

Think about:

  • Personal changes you’ve navigated
  • Challenges you’ve overcome
  • Growth you’ve achieved
  • Help you’ve given others

6. If You Were the Hero of Your Story…

This is my favorite question. If you rewrote your life story with yourself as the hero, how would it unfold?

This reveals:

  • Your ideal path
  • Your deeper desires
  • Your true mission

Why These Questions Work

Unlike surface-level career assessments, these questions help you:

  • Connect with your authentic self
  • Recognize patterns in your life
  • Identify your natural gifts
  • Understand your impact on others

Taking Action on Your Insights

Once you’ve answered these questions, look for:

  1. Common themes
  2. Natural strengths
  3. Passion points
  4. Impact opportunities

Remember: Your purpose isn’t about being perfect – it’s about being perfectly you.

The Car Mirror Metaphor

Think about driving: Your rearview mirror is small, but your windshield is large. Why? Because while it’s important to know where you’ve been, it’s more important to see where you’re going.

The same applies to purpose:

  • Learn from your past
  • But focus on your future
  • Use your experiences to serve others
  • Keep moving forward

Your Next Steps

Today, I challenge you to:

  1. Find a quiet space
  2. Take out a journal
  3. Answer these six questions honestly
  4. Look for patterns in your answers

Share in the comments: Which question resonates most with you? What patterns do you notice in your answers?

Remember: Your purpose isn’t just about you – it’s about how you can serve others with your unique gifts.
