Hey there! It’s Karin, and I’m so excited to chat with you today about something we all want more of in our lives: happiness. I’ve been on quite a journey lately, discovering what true happiness means to me, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you.

The Happiness Challenge

Let me ask you something: When was the last time you really felt happy? I mean truly, deeply happy? If you’re having trouble remembering, don’t worry. You’re not alone.

A few years ago, I found myself in a similar spot. I was so focused on what I didn’t have that I forgot to appreciate what I did have. But then I learned a few simple tricks that completely changed my perspective. Today, I’m going to share those with you.

Step 1: Practice Gratitude

The first step to unlocking your happiness is so simple, you might not believe it: practice gratitude.

Here’s a question for you: Do you ever take time to appreciate the good things in your life? Even the small stuff?

I’ll be honest, I used to skip right over the little things. But now, I start each day by writing down three things I’m grateful for. It could be as simple as:

  • The comfy bed I slept in
  • The clean water I drink
  • The beautiful sunrise I saw this morning

Try it yourself. Ask yourself: What are three things I’m grateful for right now? You might be surprised at how quickly you start to notice the good things all around you.

Step 2: Focus on What You Can Control

Next up, we need to talk about control. Here’s the truth: a lot of our stress comes from trying to control things we can’t.

So ask yourself: What can I control in this situation?

Remember, the only thing you can truly control is yourself – your thoughts, your actions, your reactions. Everything else? Let it go.

I know it’s not easy. I used to stress about everything from the weather to what other people thought of me. But when I started focusing on what I could control, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

Step 3: Cultivate Positive Relationships

Now, let’s talk about the people in your life. Here’s a big question: Do the people in your life lift you up?

I learned this one the hard way. I used to hang around people who always focused on the negative, and guess what? It brought me down too.

Now, I make a conscious effort to surround myself with positive people. In fact, I recently joined a group of over 31,000 people who are all working towards their goals and supporting each other. The energy is incredible!

Take a moment to think: Who in my life brings me joy and support? Those are the relationships you want to nurture.

Step 4: Take Care of Your Body

Here’s something we often forget: our physical health plays a huge role in our happiness.

I love going for walks in the park at night with my fiancé, Steve. It’s not just about the exercise – it’s about taking time for myself, enjoying nature, and feeling good in my body.

Ask yourself: What can I do today to take care of my body? It doesn’t have to be a full workout. Maybe it’s stretching for 5 minutes, or choosing a healthy snack. Small steps can make a big difference.

Step 5: Pursue Your Passions

Last but definitely not least, make time for what you love.

I love cooking and baking. There’s this cinnamon cake I make that’s just so good. When I’m in the kitchen, creating something delicious, I feel truly happy.

So here’s my question for you: What are you passionate about, and how can you incorporate it into your life?

It doesn’t have to be anything big. Maybe you love reading – can you set aside 15 minutes a day for a good book? Or if you enjoy painting, can you doodle during your lunch break?

The Money Question

Now, I know what some of you might be thinking: “But Karen, don’t we need money to be happy?”

Here’s my take: Money isn’t everything, but it is important. Having financial security can definitely contribute to our happiness. It’s not about being rich – it’s about having enough to meet our needs and enjoy life without constant stress.

The key is to have a healthy relationship with money. Appreciate what you have, use it wisely, and remember that true happiness comes from within.
